Newburgh Chamber Music Donates to
Musicians Impacted by Hurricane Maria
Newburgh Chamber Music recently donated $2,000 to AFM’s Hurricane Relief Fund to help musicians impacted by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. The money was donated from the proceeds of the Annual Mother’s Day concert, which featured the Hudson Valley Winds performing Sergei Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf,” Camille Saint-Saens’ “Carnival of the Animals” and Maurice Ravel’s “Mother Goose Suite. AFM musicians involved were: Marcia Gates, flute; Joël Evans, oboe; Larry Tietze, clarinet; Janet Lantz, horn; Jeffrey Marchand, bassoon; Ruthanne Schempf, piano; Nanette Koch, narrator; and Carole Cowan, artistic director.
Newburgh Chamber Music presents a rich classical and contemporary repertoire in the heart of historic Newburgh, NY, featuring outstanding professional chamber ensembles. The 2018-19 series will feature the Catalyst Quartet, the Ceres Quartet, the American String Quartet with Cynthia Phelps, and Uncommon Ground.
