Maestro Yannick Nézet-Séguin, recently named music director of the Metropolitan Opera, will serve as the official Ambassador of the conference which runs from May 11-14, 2017 in downtown Montreal at the Delta Hotel.
The conference aims to provide a venue for orchestral musicians from around the world to share their experiences, concerns and initiatives on issues such as such as:
- Improving workplace conditions
- Orchestra business models
- Player participation on orchestra boards
- Broadcasts, streaming and musicians’ performance rights
- Union representation
Among the conference participants will be many AFM musicians from Canada and the United States including International President Ray Hair.
