Transparent Musicians Win
Musicians working on Amazon’s series “Transparent” are now covered by a union contract.
Although actors, writers, directors & crew were receiving union wages and benefits on the Amazon series—musicians were shut out of a labor contract. But Los Angeles musicians organized and mounted a public campaign highlighting the unequal treatment of musicians and demanded justice.
By joining together, musicians had the power to pressure Picrow, “Tranparent’s” producers, to sign on to the AFM TV Film Agreement. The new contract ensures that musicians, arrangers, copyists, leaders, conductors, and sideline musicians working on “Transparent” will now receive fair wages, pension and health benefits.
