International Musician Recognized by ILCA with Prestigious Saul Miller Awards
The International Labor Communications Association (ILCA) announced its annual labor communications contest winners for 2022 entries. The largest competition exclusively for labor journalists and communicators, the awards recognize excellence among union publications, websites, video, and other media from across North America.
Congratulations to International Musician and feature writer Stephen Laifer (Local 66, Rochester, NY) for winning two Saul Miller Awards. This prestigious award recognizes excellence in the areas of organizing, collective bargaining, and political action.
1st Place, Saul Miller Award (Organizing): August 2022 cover story, “Evan Walsh and Toy Soldiers Organizing Campaign,” Local 7 (Orange County, CA)
2nd Place, Saul Miller Award (Collective Bargaining): October 2022 cover story, “San Antonio Philharmonic: New Orchestra for San Antonio Brings Fresh Approach.” Local 23 (San Antonio, TX)
Our AFM members and locals are also winners here — without them, there would be no story. The tireless work of local members is the heart of unionism and activism. Organizing—and winning—with a grassroots campaign is a win for all of us!
